What we like about ASUS ROG Strix Scope RX Eva 02 Edition

  • Stunning Evangelion-themed design with high attention to detail in colors and keycaps
  • High build quality featuring an alloy top cover and solid overall construction
  • Smooth and responsive ROG RX optical mechanical switches with minimal key wobble
  • IP57-rated water and dust resistance for increased durability
  • Good ergonomics, often including a comfortable magnetic wrist rest
  • Convenient features like the Stealth key for instant privacy and USB 2.0 passthrough
  • Excellent per-key RGB lighting customization that syncs with Aura Sync

What we don't like about ASUS ROG Strix Scope RX Eva 02 Edition

  • Higher price point, primarily due to the limited edition branding
  • Switches are not hot-swappable, limiting customization for enthusiasts
  • Optical switches use a unique stem design, making it difficult to find third-party replacement keycaps
  • The keyboard is wired-only, which may not suit users preferring a wireless setup
  • The required Armoury Crate software can be bloated and sometimes difficult to use
  • Some users find the RX switches (especially the Blue version) to be quite loud for quiet environments
  • Certain keycaps, like the stylized spacebar, may be made of ABS plastic rather than PBT

Verdict

The ROG Strix Scope RX EVA-02 Edition is a full-sized wired gaming keyboard featuring a striking red-and-orange Evangelion Unit-02 aesthetic and a durable aluminum alloy top plate. It is equipped with ROG RX Red or Blue optical mechanical switches that offer a 1.5mm actuation point, 1ms response time, and a 100-million-keystroke lifespan. Key characteristics include IP57 waterproof and dust resistance, a USB 2.0 passthrough, an extended Ctrl key for FPS gaming, and a dedicated Stealth key for instant privacy. While it excels with its smooth, wobble-free keystrokes, near-zero debounce delay, and vibrant per-key RGB Aura Sync lighting, cons include its non-detachable cable, limited keycap customization due to the unique switch stem design, and a potentially high price point as a limited-edition peripheral.
