The Head-Fi community thread on the Focal HadenysGo ($699) and AzurysGo ($549) introduces these headphones as a new mid-fi generation featuring lightweight, ergonomic designs inspired by the Bathys, with the Hadenys (open-back) and Azurys (closed-back) offering a smoother, more neutral, and punchy sound profile compared to traditional Focal models. Both models feature low-impedance drivers that are highly accessible, performing well with portable devices, while incorporating durable magnesium yokes, a major comfort improvement over older, heavier Focal designs. However, community feedback highlights a distinct, sometimes aggressive 3.5 kHz peak requiring EQ, alongside comfort issues for some users with the smaller, redesigned earcups.

The Focal Azurys (closed-back) and Hadenys (open-back) are lightweight, easily driven headphones, though they lack a balanced cable in the package. The Azurys offers a comfortable, fatigue-free sound with natural bass, yet is described as slightly unmemorable, lacking fast transient response and high-end detail. Conversely, the Hadenys provides superior, hard-hitting bass and a wide 3D soundstage for a modest price increase, despite some, at times, reduced, or slightly blunted, treble tonality.

Architecturally designed for mobile and desktop use rather than traditional home hi-fi, the headphones have a low 26-ohm impedance and 100dB/mW sensitivity, making them highly efficient and easily driven by laptops or phones without an external amplifier.

With a low impedance of 26 ohms and a 100dB SPL, it is highly efficient and easy to drive, though it does benefit slightly from an external DAC/amp dongle. In terms of performance, the headphone balances audiophile-grade dynamics with consumer-friendly coloration, bringing distinct pros and cons to its sound signature. The clear pros include an exceptional low-end performance highlighted by fast, precise sub-bass extension, a warm and pleasing timbre, and a remarkably clear, balanced treble that offers ample headroom without sibilance. Key pros include an engaging, natural sound with punchy bass and high efficiency, allowing them to be driven easily by mobile devices. However, significant cons include a lack of active noise cancellation, poor low-frequency passive isolation, and a somewhat congested, narrow soundstage compared to open-back alternatives.

The Focal Azurys are wired, closed-back headphones featuring a lightweight, comfortable design and highly accurate, warm sound driven by well-matched aluminum and magnesium drivers. They excel in comfort for long-term use and offer an excellent, detailed audio profile with a durable, detachable cable featuring a functional in-line microphone. RTINGS.comConversely, the review notes the lack of active noise cancellation results in poor isolation from environmental noise, and the headphones are not suitable for sports due to bulk and potential ear cushion sweat absorption.
