What we like about ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 2060

  • Excellent 1080p and entry-level 1440p gaming performance
  • Compact dual-slot design fits easily in most small form factor cases
  • Solid build quality featuring a durable metal backplate
  • Operates quietly during idle and light workloads
  • Effective IceStorm 2.0 cooling system keeps temps stable under load
  • Includes essential modern features like Ray Tracing and DLSS support
  • Strong price-to-performance ratio compared to previous generation cards

What we don't like about ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 2060

  • Lacks an idle-fan-stop feature; fans spin continuously even when idle
  • Fans can become noticeably loud under extreme synthetic or 100% loads
  • Limited to 6GB of VRAM, which can be a bottleneck for 4K or modern AAA titles
  • Only provides a single HDMI port, requiring DisplayPort adapters for multi-HDMI setups
  • Lacks a VirtualLink USB Type-C port found on some competing models
  • Reported instances of coil whine at very high usage levels
  • Requires an 8-pin power connector, which may require adapters for older power supplies

Verdict

The Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 2060 is a mid-range graphics card built on NVIDIA's 12nm Turing architecture, featuring 1,920 CUDA cores and 6GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit bus. It operates with a base clock of 1365 MHz and a boost clock of 1680 MHz, delivering a memory speed of 14 Gbps and supporting real-time ray tracing and DLSS technology. Its main advantages include a compact dual-slot design (approximately 8.3 inches long) that fits easily into smaller cases, efficient IceStorm 2.0 cooling with dual 90mm fans, and a protective wraparound metal backplate. However, the card is often criticized for its relatively limited 6GB VRAM which can bottleneck performance in modern high-resolution titles, its lack of a VirtualLink USB-C port found on other models, and its reliance on the older PCIe 3.0 interface.
