What we like about ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3050 OC

  • Efficient thermal performance: users and experts note the card maintains cool operating temperatures (around 68°C under load).
  • Quiet operation: features a 0dB fan curve and stays whisper-quiet even during intensive gaming sessions.
  • Compact form factor: at 200mm in length, the dual-slot design fits easily into small form factor (SFF) cases.
  • Low power consumption: has a modest 130W TDP and often requires only a single 6-pin or 8-pin power connector, making it compatible with older or budget power supplies.
  • Solid 1080p entry-point: delivers reliable performance in esports titles and lighter AAA games at medium-to-high settings.
  • Modern feature set: includes support for NVIDIA DLSS and NVENC encoding, which aids in streaming and content creation.

What we don't like about ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3050 OC

  • Poor price-to-performance ratio: many users feel the card is overpriced compared to AMD competitors like the RX 6600, which offers better raw performance.
  • Weak ray tracing: while supported, RT performance is often too low for practical use in most modern games without significant performance hits.
  • VRAM limitations: the 8GB (and especially the 6GB variant) is already showing limitations in newer AAA titles that require high texture settings.
  • Lack of 'Frame Generation': as a 30-series card, it misses out on DLSS 3 Frame Generation, a key feature found in the newer RTX 40-series.
  • Struggles at higher resolutions: performance drops significantly at 1440p, requiring users to drop settings to 'Medium' or use aggressive DLSS scaling.

Verdict

The Asus Dual GeForce RTX 3050 OC is a compact entry-level graphics card featuring 2,560 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit interface. Built on the NVIDIA Ampere architecture, it offers a factory-overclocked boost clock of 1,852 MHz and utilizes dual Axial-tech fans for efficient cooling within a slim 2-slot design. Main pros include reliable 1080p gaming performance at high settings, support for DLSS and ray tracing, and quiet 0dB operation during low-load tasks. However, its primary cons are its limited performance at resolutions higher than 1080p and a price-to-performance ratio that often struggles against more powerful mid-range competitors.
