Third-party reviews

What we like about HUION W58

  • Excellent value for money as a budget-friendly wireless alternative to Wacom
  • Large drawing area (8x5 inches) for its price bracket
  • Impressive 30-hour battery life in wireless mode on a full charge
  • Lightweight and thin design (0.5 inches) makes it highly portable
  • High technical specs including 2048 pressure levels and 230 RPS report rate
  • Comfortable, lightweight stylus (0.5 oz) with built-in on/off switch to save power
  • Reliable wireless range of up to 20 metres (65 feet)

What we don't like about HUION W58

  • Complex and finicky initial driver installation process
  • Poorly translated instruction manual and outdated drivers on the included CD
  • Outdated and 'ugly' configuration software interface
  • Occasional jitters or jumpy cursor behavior when using the wireless dongle
  • Surface can feel too smooth or 'slippery' for artists who prefer texture
  • Incompatibility issues reported for macOS users (specifically pen pressure blobbing)
  • Lack of physical express keys/hotkeys on the tablet body

Verdict

The Huion W58 is a versatile wireless graphics tablet featuring an 8x5 inch active drawing area, 2048 levels of pen pressure sensitivity, and a high-resolution digitizer at 5080 LPI. Designed for mobility, it utilizes 2.4 GHz wireless technology with a range of up to 20 meters and includes an internal Li-ion battery providing approximately 30 hours of continuous use. Its main advantages include a slim, lightweight 10mm profile and the freedom of wireless operation at an affordable price point for beginners. However, notable drawbacks include a complex initial driver installation process, the lack of physical express keys on the tablet body, and reported compatibility issues or driver instability when used with macOS.
