When should you consider buying a 16L dehumidifier?
A 16 L/day dehumidifier is worth considering when a 10–12 L/day model would run for too long or when a medium room has regular condensation, indoor laundry, or damp air. It gives useful reserve for bedrooms, living rooms, utility rooms, and smaller basements without the size and energy demand of many 20 L/day cabinets.
The rating is commonly marketed for roughly 30–50 m², but the usable area depends on temperature, ceiling height, airflow, door openings, and the moisture source. A cold room, divided layout, or persistent water vapour may need more capacity even when the manufacturer's area claim appears sufficient.
Choose a 16 L/day model when it can cycle around 50–60% RH, drain continuously, and operate quietly enough for the room. Move to 20 L/day or more if it runs constantly, cannot dry laundry within a reasonable time, or leaves condensation in corners.
