Verdict

The Snow Joe ASHJ201 is a bagless electric ash vacuum designed specifically for cold ash pickup from wood stoves, fireplaces, pellet grills, and fire pits. It features a 4-amp motor that delivers up to 500 watts of suction power and 42.4 CFM of airflow, alongside a durable 4.8-gallon metal canister, an 8.5-foot power cord, and a 3.9-foot metal-reinforced hose paired with an 11.8-inch aluminum intake nozzle. Main pros include a highly effective dual filtration system combining a coarse-dust pre-filter and a fine-dust pleated filter to prevent airborne dust leakage, an integrated safety stop switch that blocks operation if the filter is missing, and a compact, lightweight 8.8-pound design with an easy-carry handle. However, notable cons include its strict limitation to dry, completely cooled ash below 104°F (40°C), a tendency for the filters to clog quickly during heavy use, and lower overall suction power compared to larger, heavy-duty utility shop vacuums.
