Additional highlights include highly effective digital stabilization, crisp image quality with Raw DNG support, 4K30 HDR video, and a cinematic 6K widescreen mode. Furthermore, the entire unit remains waterproof down to 16 feet once properly put together. However, the camera's modular design also introduces several notable drawbacks. Users must physically disassemble and flip the camera components around just to switch between front and rear views, making it less convenient than competitors with dual built-in screens. The 1.3-inch square touchscreen is also criticized for being cramped and difficult to use as a primary viewfinder. Performance limitations include a relatively short battery...

The Insta360 One RS is a highly versatile, modular action camera that allows users to physically swap between three distinct lenses: a 4K Boost Mod, a 360 Mod, and an optional Leica 1-Inch Mod. The updated 4K Boost Mod features a large 1/2-inch sensor capable of shooting 48MP photos and wide-angle 4K video, making it an excellent tool for action photography and low-light scenarios. Meanwhile, the 360 Mod captures immersive environments at 5.7K resolution, which is paired with near-perfect AI-driven stabilization and a comprehensive smartphone editing app that allows seamless tracking and reframing. The camera also features waterproof design up to a certain depth and a significantly faster, more responsive user interface compared to its predecessor. The 360 lens outputs a relatively low 1080p resolution after reframing, displays prominent noise, struggles with messy visible stitch lines, and relies awkwardly on PAL frame rate standards. While the 4K Boost lens produces cleaner images, it still shows noticeable noise across all ISO settings and misses finer details. Furthermore, the glass lenses are not user-replaceable, and the poorly designed rubber 360 lens cover collects dirt easily and slips off far...

The Insta360 One RS is a solid upgrade over the older One R model, featuring a modular setup that lets you swap between different lenses. A key benefit is the new 4K Boost Lens, which has a larger half-inch sensor that captures better colors, performs well in tricky or low light, and takes massive 48-megapixel photos. The camera also features a faster brain, or processor, that lets you digitally zoom while recording, transfer files via Wi-Fi 50% faster, and enjoy 20% longer battery life. Additionally, the new mounting bracket is much tougher and makes swapping lenses quick and easy, while an extra microphone improves overall sound clarity. On the downside, this is an evolutionary update rather than a major leap forward. A major disappointment is that the 360-degree video feature received no upgrade at all; it uses the exact same lens and sensor, capping the resolution at the same 5.7K as the older model. Because the two cameras share interchangeable parts, current One R owners might find it hard to justify buying the whole new system unless they specifically need...

Review Overview and Main Pros The Insta360 One RS 1-Inch 360 Edition is an impressive, highly specialized 6K modular camera co-engineered with Leica.
