What we don't like about Amazon Fire HD 6 (1GB + 16GB)

  • No microSD card slot for expandable storage
  • Limited internal storage (only 5GB usable on the 8GB model)
  • Lack of Google Play Store and official Google apps (YouTube, Gmail, etc.)
  • Noticeably thick and heavy design for its small size
  • Poor camera quality (2MP rear and VGA front)
  • No ambient light sensor for automatic brightness adjustment
  • Restricted to the Amazon ecosystem (Fire OS)
  • Lengthy charging time (can take up to 6 hours)

Verdict

The Amazon Fire HD 6 (4th Generation) is a compact 6-inch tablet featuring a sharp IPS LCD display with a 1280 x 800 resolution (252 ppi) and durable Gorilla Glass. It is powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor (two 1.5GHz and two 1.2GHz cores) paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, running on Amazon's Fire OS. Its primary strengths include its highly portable, one-handed form factor, sturdy build quality, and access to the extensive Amazon ecosystem with features like X-Ray and parental controls. However, it lacks a microSD slot for expandable storage, does not have native access to the Google Play Store, and features relatively low-quality cameras (2MP rear, VGA front) along with a somewhat thick and heavy chassis for its small size.
