What we like about COWAY AIRMEGA Jet AP-1220B

  • High filtration efficiency, catching up to 99.999% of ultra-fine particles down to 0.01 µm
  • Versatile MegaJet technology allowing users to switch between localized focus and broad room circulation modes
  • Sleek and modern aesthetics often compared to premium tech brand designs
  • Extremely quiet operation in sleep/silent mode, dropping down to roughly 20 dB
  • Highly helpful for users managing severe seasonal allergies, asthma, and pet dander
  • Energy-efficient performance drawing a maximum of only 50W
  • Doubles effectively as a cooling fan during hot summer months

What we don't like about COWAY AIRMEGA Jet AP-1220B

  • Lacks modern smart features like app support or Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Does not feature backlit buttons, making manual settings difficult to see or operate in the dark
  • Can be noticeably loud and sound like a jet engine when running on its highest turbo speed
  • Higher upfront purchase price compared to mid-sized competitors from budget-oriented brands
  • Confusing or restrictive manufacturer safety warnings regarding prolonged use in sealed rooms or around vulnerable individuals

Verdict

The COWAY AIRMEGA Jet AP-1220B is a high-performance air purifier designed for rooms up to 104 m², featuring an 8.7 kg compact design and unique MegaJet technology that offers both vertical normal circulation and forward-facing focus circulation. Its highly efficient 3-stage filtration system combines a washable pre-filter, an activated carbon filter, and a GreenHEPA filter to capture 99.999% of ultra-fine nano-particles down to 0.01 µm, making it ECARF certified for allergy sufferers. Main advantages include real-time air monitoring via a 4-colour AQI display, user-friendly detachable grilles for effortless cleaning, and a highly efficient 50-watt power consumption profile alongside a whisper-quiet 50 dB maximum noise level. However, a minor drawback is that its slim design restricts the total carbon volume needed for extreme VOC or heavy pet odour elimination compared to larger dual-intake cube models.
