Third-party reviews

What we like about Graava Action Camera

  • Automatic video editing via companion app saves significant processing time
  • Uses multiple built-in sensors (GPS, accelerometer, mic) to detect action highlights
  • Can sync with third-party heart rate monitors like Apple Watch to log exciting moments
  • Versatile secondary uses including home security, baby monitor, and dash cam functionality
  • Sleek and compact 'bar of soap' industrial design with no visible body seams
  • Supports convenient magnetic wireless induction charging
  • Includes auto-image rotation and loop recording modes

What we don't like about Graava Action Camera

  • Inferior video quality limited to 1080p at 30fps and 720p at 60fps compared to 4K competitors
  • Only water-resistant rather than fully waterproof, making it unsuitable for swimming or diving
  • Lacks a built-in display screen for live framing or direct playback on the unit
  • Does not support extreme slow-motion recording capabilities
  • Many pre-order customers reported undelivered units and a total lack of refunds, leading to widespread scam complaints
  • Shipped without an included microSD card, requiring an additional purchase
  • Battery life drops significantly from the advertised three hours when Wi-Fi is actively used

Verdict

The Graava Action Camera is a compact, 2.1-ounce smart camera featuring an 8-megapixel sensor capable of recording 1080p video at 30 fps or 720p at 60 fps, capturing 4K hyperlapses, and utilizing a 130-degree wide-angle lens with built-in image stabilization. Its main characteristic and primary advantage is its artificial intelligence-driven auto-editing capability, which utilizes an integrated sensor suite—including a microphone, accelerometer, gyroscope, GPS, and third-party heart rate monitor compatibility—to automatically detect high-excitement highlights and sync them to music via a mobile app. Additionally, it offers automated image rotation, a 3-hour battery life (1100mAh) with Wi-Fi off, and dual-use functionality as a home monitor or dashcam. However, its main cons include a lack of a built-in display screen, an inability to shoot standard video in 4K or high-frame-rate slow motion, and an IP67 rating that makes it only water-resistant rather than fully waterproof for swimming.
