What we like about Crosstour CT9900

  • Affordable budget pricing
  • Generous bundle of included accessories
  • Responsive and crisp 2-inch rear touchscreen
  • Supports native 4K video recording at 60fps
  • Includes two rechargeable batteries
  • Comes with an external microphone and remote control
  • Waterproof up to 40 meters with the included case
  • Provides a clean HDMI video output feed

What we don't like about Crosstour CT9900

  • Poor low-light and indoor video performance
  • Weak built-in audio microphone and playback speaker quality
  • Requires Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) to be turned off to enable distortion calibration
  • Requires high-speed UHS SD cards to record 4K footage without issues
  • No visible model number markings on the camera exterior body

Verdict

The Crosstour CT9900 is a high-performance action camera capable of recording native 4K video at 60fps and capturing 20MP photos through its 170° wide-angle lens with a bright f/1.8 aperture. Key characteristics include a responsive 2-inch IPS touchscreen, 6-axis electronic image stabilisation (EIS) that functions even at maximum resolution, and 8x digital zoom. It is highly praised for its extensive accessory bundle, which includes two 1350mAh batteries, an external microphone, and a waterproof case rated for depths up to 40 metres. While it offers excellent value, notable cons include poor low-light performance due to a lack of built-in flash, an exposed memory card slot and ports that lack protective covers, and a protruding lens that is susceptible to scratching if placed face-down.
