Verdict

The Linksys E4200 is a simultaneous dual-band Wireless-N router featuring a 3x3 internal MIMO antenna array that delivers speeds of up to 450 Mbps on the 5GHz band and 300 Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. It is equipped with four Gigabit Ethernet ports for high-speed wired connections, a built-in USB port for shared network storage, and an integrated UPnP AV media server for seamless HD video streaming. Its primary advantages include exceptional wireless throughput, an attractive low-profile design, and a user-friendly setup via Cisco Connect software. However, notable drawbacks include its mediocre NAS file-transfer performance, the lack of 450 Mbps support on the 2.4GHz band (in the original version), and a tendency for the unit to run quite warm during heavy use.
