What we like about Medisana AH 661

  • Whisper-quiet operation makes it ideal for bedrooms and children's rooms.
  • Integrated pre-heating function effectively reduces germs and bacteria in the water.
  • Separate aromatherapy compartment allows easy addition of essential oils.
  • Large 3.5-liter water tank provides 10 to 14 hours of continuous operation.
  • Helpful safety features including automatic shut-off when the tank is empty.
  • Micro-fine ultrasonic atomization efficiently improves dry indoor air quality.
  • Features a built-in timer (2, 4, or 6 hours) and 3 selectable intensity settings.

What we don't like about Medisana AH 661

  • The 1.5-meter power cable is relatively short, limiting placement options near outlets.
  • Requires frequent and diligent cleaning to prevent mineral buildup and scaling.
  • Ultrasonic technology can create white dust if used with high-mineral tap water.
  • Power consumption is slightly high (75 Watts) when utilizing the pre-heating mist function.
  • The design of the upper handle feels somewhat weak when carrying a fully loaded tank.

Verdict

The Medisana AH 661 is an ultrasonic humidifier equipped with a 3.5-liter water tank, a 75-watt power consumption profile, and dimensions of 18.5 x 18.5 x 28.2 cm. Utilizing micro-fine atomization tech, its main characteristics include a 2/4/6-hour timer, touch controls, and an integrated aromatherapy compartment for scented oils. Key pros are its unique pre-heating feature that sanitizes water to reduce germs, a maximum misting output of up to 350 ml/h for hot mist (250 ml/h for cold), an automatic shut-off safety sensor, whisper-quiet bedroom-safe operation, and an autonomy of 10 to 14 hours. Main cons include a lack of precise automated climate-target controls and a bottom-fill design requiring tank removal, which makes routine cleanings and refilling less convenient than newer top-fill models.
