The 2019 Amazon Kindle Oasis is described by CNET as a premium, ergonomic e-reader featuring a 7-inch, 300 ppi E Ink screen with a new color-adjustable warm light for better nighttime reading. Key pros include an IPX8 waterproof rating, dedicated page-turn buttons, and the ability to stream Audible audiobooks via Bluetooth. However, the review notes significant drawbacks, specifically the high price tag, the use of a dated Micro-USB port, and the lack of an included protective cover. Despite these cons, it is considered the best luxury e-reader, though the Kindle Paperwhite is recommended for better overall value.

Mashable's review of the 2017 Amazon Kindle Oasis highlights it as a premium, ergonomic e-reader featuring a 7-inch, 300 PPI display and IPX8 waterproofing, which allows for reading in the bath or at the beach. The device's standout pros include a comfortable, asymmetric design that shifts weight into the palm and dedicated physical page-turn buttons for a superior, tactile reading experience. Despite the improvements, the review notes significant cons, most notably the high price tag and the continued use of a Micro USB port instead of a modern USB-C standard. The wider design, while ergonomic, makes it less portable, and many of its best features are now available on the less expensive Kindle Paperwhite, making the premium cost hard to justify. Overall, while the 2017 Oasis was praised for its larger screen and waterproofing, it marked the beginning of a luxurious, yet stagnant design, with later models only offering minor updates like a warm light. In a 2016 review for The Guardian, the Amazon Kindle Oasis is described as a "luxury" e-reader featuring an innovative, asymmetrical, and highly ergonomic design that is significantly lighter and thinner than its predecessors. Pros of the device include a superior 300ppi screen with improved lighting for a "floating" text effect, the return of physical page-turn buttons, and a magnetic charging cover that significantly extends battery life. However, notable cons include a high premium price point, lack of waterproofing, and limited functionality of the included cover, which does not protect the rear of the device.

The 2016 Kindle Oasis is lauded by The Verge for its ultra-light, 4.6-ounce design and ergonomic, asymmetrical grip that enables comfortable one-handed reading. It features a 300 ppi screen with enhanced lighting, along with physical page-turn buttons that represent a significant, high-end upgrade. However, the $289.99 price point is considered too steep compared to the Kindle Voyage or Paperwhite, and the device necessitates a mandatory, included magnetic cover to achieve sufficient battery life. The review concludes that while it is a luxury, top-tier device, it is not a necessary purchase for the average user given the minor functional differences from cheaper models.

The 2016 Amazon Kindle Oasis is identified as a premium, lightweight e-reader featuring a unique, ergonomic, and asymmetrical design with physical page-turn buttons. Key advantages include a high-quality 300 ppi display with improved lighting and a magnetic charging cover that extends battery life significantly. However, the $289 price point, lack of waterproofing, and absence of audio features are cited as major drawbacks compared to cheaper, similarly capable models.

The Mirror review identifies the Amazon Kindle Oasis as a premium, lightweight e-reader featuring a unique asymmetrical design, physical page-turn buttons, and a leather cover with a secondary battery for extended life. While praising its ergonomics and display, the review highlights the high price point as a significant drawback compared to the similar, cheaper Kindle Paperwhite or Voyage models. Key pros included in the review are the comfortable design, physical buttons, and long-lasting battery, while noted cons include the high cost, lack of waterproofing, and absence of an ambient light sensor.

The 2016 Six Colors review characterizes the Kindle Oasis as a luxury e-reader designed to "disappear" in the hand, featuring an ultra-thin 3.4mm profile, a 4.6-ounce weight, and a, ergonomic, asymmetrical grip with physical page-turn buttons. Key benefits include improved 10-LED screen lighting for even brightness, automatic screen rotation via an accelerometer, and a included leather cover that boosts battery life to nine weeks. Conversely, the $289.99 price point is deemed high, the "naked" device has short battery life, and it lacks the waterproofing expected at this premium level.

The Stuff.tv review positions the Amazon Kindle Oasis as a premium, lightweight e-reader featuring a high-resolution 300 ppi screen and an ergonomic, asymmetrical design for comfortable one-handed reading. Key advantages include responsive physical page-turn buttons, a premium aluminum build, and on later models, IPX8 waterproofing and adjustable warm light functionality. However, the review highlights the high price tag as a significant downside, alongside the lack of USB-C and the reliance on a separate, mandatory cover for maximum battery life in earlier models.

The 2016 Amazon Kindle Oasis is a high-end, ultralight e-reader featuring a 6-inch, 300 ppi E Ink screen with improved lighting uniformity and physical page-turn buttons. Its ergonomic design allows for comfortable one-handed reading, complemented by a leather charging case that boosts battery life, although the device alone holds a shorter charge than its predecessors. Key drawbacks include its $290 price point—difficult to justify against cheaper alternatives like the Paperwhite—the lack of waterproofing, and a susceptibility to fingerprints. While technically considered the "best Kindle ever made" due to its design, the high cost makes it an luxury item rather than a practical upgrade for most users.

Alphr questions the high cost of Amazon Kindle Oasis WiFi but praises the 2016 model's attractive and practical design. At 131 grams, it is thinner and lighter than earlier Kindles, with an offset screen and rear grip for comfort. The reviewer welcomes the return of physical page buttons and finds the device enjoyable to hold for long periods. The included leather cover attaches magnetically and contains its own battery, which extends the reader's endurance between charging sessions. The eight-week claim assumes the cover stays attached, with daily reading of 30 minutes and light set to ten. Its crisp 6-inch screen offers 300 ppi, and the front light supports night reading without a separate bedside lamp.

The eBook Reader bought its Amazon Kindle Oasis WiFi and considers this model the best Kindle yet. The reviewer has covered every Kindle since 2010 and especially values the tapered shape and dedicated page buttons. That design makes extended reading comfortable with either hand, while the screen delivers crisp text and even illumination. The required charging cover restricts third-party choices, and the device alone lasts only about five to seven hours. Its screen and software match cheaper Kindles, and the frontlight lacks the automatic adjustment available on the Voyage. The reviewer struggles to justify the premium because the Paperwhite 3 offers almost identical reading quality and performance.
