Amazon Kindle Oasis 2019 Review | 68 Data compared

The 2019 Kindle Oasis is presented as a premium 7-inch, 300 ppi e-reader featuring a durable aluminum body and, crucially, a new adjustable warm light that allows users to shift screen tones to reduce eye strain. The device excels in ergonomics, utilizing an asymmetrical design with physical page-turn buttons and holding an IPX8 waterproof rating for versatile reading environments. While praised for its, fast performance and excellent display, the Oasis is criticized for its high price, the inclusion of an outdated micro-USB port, and a cold-to-the-touch chassis that easily shows fingerprints.

The SmartWorld.it review defines the 10th-generation Amazon Kindle Oasis (2019) as a luxury e-reader, featuring an asymmetrical aluminum design, 7-inch 300 ppi E Ink display, and a new, highly praised adjustable warm light. While considered an incremental update rather than a total redesign, it remains the most premium device in the Kindle lineup, focusing on improved ergonomics with physical page-turn buttons for extended reading. The review highlights superior 25-LED lighting for reduced eye strain and robust IPX8-rated waterproofing as major pros, while criticizing the continued use of a micro-USB port instead of USB-C. Other downsides include its high, "luxury" price point relative to the Kindle Paperwhite and the lack of a protective case in the box, making it a premium choice specifically for avid readers.

Its standout feature is the adjustable warm light, which uses 25 LEDs to significantly reduce eye strain during nighttime reading. Key advantages, or "Pros," highlighted in the review include the comfortable, waterproof design (IPX8), dedicated page-turn buttons, and a fast, intuitive interface with automatic orientation detection. The device is praised for offering the most "paper-like" experience in the Kindle lineup. However, the "Cons" focus on the high price point compared to the Kindle Paperwhite and the use of an outdated Micro-USB port, rather than USB-C. Additionally, the review notes that improvements over the 2017 model are minimal, excluding the warm light feature.

A major upgrade is the adjustable warm light, powered by 25 LEDs, designed to reduce eye strain with automatic scheduling. Key advantages include its IPX8 waterproof rating, physical page-turn buttons, and a gyroscope for automatic screen rotation, although it lacks USB-C, relying on Micro-USB. Despite its high-end performance, potential drawbacks include the premium price, slower charging, and battery drain with high brightness.

Andrea Galeazzi defines the 2019 Kindle Oasis as an elite e-reader, primarily elevated by its new adjustable warm light feature that mimics physical book pages for a superior reading experience. While praised for its premium feel, the high price point—nearly double that of the Paperwhite—positions this device strictly as a "pro" choice. Key physical advantages include a perfectly balanced ergonomic design for one-handed use, responsive page-turn buttons, and IPX8 water resistance. However, the review notes significant drawbacks, specifically the reliance on an outdated micro-USB port rather than USB-C, along with minor upgrades over the previous generation that may not justify a new purchase for existing Oasis owners. Key pros include the customizable screen temperature that reduces eye strain, high-speed performance, and excellent one-handed usability. Conversely, notable cons are the high price, lack of a protective cover, and the use of a micro-USB port instead of USB-C. The 2019 Kindle Oasis (10th Generation) is a premium e-reader featuring a 7-inch, 300 ppi E-Ink display with an adjustable warm light and an ergonomic, asymmetrical design with physical page-turn buttons. Its premium build includes an IPX8 waterproof rating, making it suitable for wet environments. However, the device is criticized for using a dated Micro-USB port rather than USB-C, along with a shorter battery life compared to the Kindle Paperwhite, especially when using the warm light and Wi-Fi. While the 8 GB storage is sufficient for standard e-books, it may feel limiting for heavy users of audiobooks or PDFs. The device's primary pros include superior ergonomic design and waterproofing, while its cons are a higher price point, older charging port, and mediocre battery longevity.
