What we like about Bosch SMS2ITW12E Series 2

  • Excellent cleaning performance that thoroughly removes stains
  • Quiet operation thanks to the EcoSilence Drive brushless motor
  • Convenient smart control and remote monitoring via the Home Connect mobile app
  • Flexible loading with adjustable upper basket height via the RackMatic system
  • Reliable leak protection provided by the built-in AquaStop safety system
  • Efficient detergent dissolution with the DosageAssist tray mechanism

What we don't like about Bosch SMS2ITW12E Series 2

  • Drying performance on plastics can be subpar without activating ExtraDry
  • Lacks a dedicated built-in time remaining countdown display on some variations of the physical panel
  • Control panel layout and selected setting indicators can be confusing or poorly illuminated for some users
  • Racks and trays can feel stiff or clunky to slide out when fully loaded
  • Long cycle duration when running the energy-saving Eco program mode

Verdict

The Bosch SMS2ITW12E Series 2 is a 60 cm freestanding dishwasher featuring a 12 place setting capacity, an EcoSilence Drive motor operating at 48 dB, and smart integration via the Home Connect Wi-Fi app. It offers 5 wash programs including Eco 50°C, Auto 45-65°C, and Intensive 70°C, alongside specialized functions like Extra Dry, Half Load, and a personalized Favourite button. Main advantages include efficient performance consuming 10.5 liters of water and 92 kWh per 100 cycles under energy class E, reliable AquaStop leak protection, and intelligent AquaSensor soil detection. However, notable drawbacks include its lower energy efficiency rating, a basic Polinox/stainless steel hybrid interior tub rather than full premium steel, and a fixed lower cutlery basket that reduces overall loading flexibility.
