What we like about 7Artisans 10mm F 3 5 APS-C

  • Extremely compact and lightweight (approx. 130g), making it ideal for travel and vlogging.
  • Solid build quality with an all-metal construction and manual control rings.
  • Near-zero distortion for a 10mm lens, making it suitable for architecture and interior photography without a 'fisheye' look.
  • Excellent center sharpness, especially when stopped down to F5.6.
  • Highly affordable price point, providing high value for budget-conscious creators.
  • Produces attractive 10-point sunstars.

What we don't like about 7Artisans 10mm F 3 5 APS-C

  • Average corner sharpness that rarely reaches 'excellent' levels even at narrow apertures.
  • Fully manual operation with no electronic contacts, meaning no EXIF data or autofocus.
  • Lack of optical image stabilization (OIS), requiring a camera body with IBIS for steady handheld shots.
  • Low maximum magnification ratio (0.1x), making it unsuitable for close-up or macro work.
  • Relatively slow maximum aperture of F3.5, which may be limiting in very low-light conditions.

Verdict

The 7Artisans 10mm f/3.5 is a compact, ultra-wide-angle manual prime lens designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras, offering a 108° field of view and a 15mm full-frame equivalent focal length. Its optical design consists of nine elements in seven groups, featuring a 5-blade diaphragm that produces 10-point sunstars, a minimum focusing distance of 0.2m, and a small 37mm filter thread. Key advantages include its lightweight 125g all-metal build, excellent center sharpness, and a rectilinear design that ensures straight lines remain undistorted, making it ideal for architecture and vlogging. However, it suffers from soft corner performance especially when wide open, lacks electronic communication for EXIF data, and has no optical image stabilization.
