Are Tefal filter coffee machines good?
Tefal filter coffee machines have an average overall score of 7.4, ranking #19 among all filter coffee machine brands.
Tefal builds simple drip machines for people who want a full jug of coffee without paying for extras. The lineup runs from the compact Uno CM1218 with a 1.1 l tank to the Vita CM1718, which holds 1.5 l and brews 15 cups. Every model has a glass jug, a drip stop and automatic shut-off, and the digital versions add a timer.
The weak spot is keeping coffee warm. These Tefal machines all brew into a glass jug on a warming plate, and coffee there tastes stewed after 20–30 minutes. If you drink slowly through the morning, a thermal jug from another brand serves you better.
(Note: A total of 26 brands were evaluated in the comparison in the first paragraph. Only those with at least 3 filter coffee machine models in our database were included.)

The main advantages of Tefal filter coffee machines are as follows:
- Low prices: The CM533811 brews 15 cups from a 1.25 l tank at an entry-level price. You get a full family-size pot without paying for features you will not use.
- Large batches: Most models brew 12–15 cups per cycle. The Vita CM1718 pairs 15 cups with a 1.5 l tank, enough for a weekend breakfast without a refill.
- Quick brewing: Heaters of 1,000–1,100 W warm the water fast. The Uno CM1218 runs at 1,100 W, the strongest in the line, and finishes its smaller pot quickly.
- Simple to use: Daily use comes down to filter, coffee, water and one switch. The Equinox CM520D10 brews 12 cups at 900 W with no setup or menus to learn.
- Automatic shut-off: The machine turns itself off after the keep-warm phase. On a 15-cup brewer like the Sense CM6931, a forgotten pot does not burn dry on the plate.
- Standard filters: Ordinary cone paper filters and any pre-ground coffee work. The CM600810 and the rest of the range need no special pods or capsules.
What are the main disadvantages of Tefal filter coffee machines?
The main disadvantages of Tefal filter coffee machines are the following:
- No thermal carafe: Every model, from the Uno CM1218 to the CM600810, brews into a glass jug. Coffee left on the warming plate turns flat and bitter well before the auto shut-off kicks in.
- Slow low-power model: The Vita CM1718 runs at 730 W, which stretches a full 1.5 l pot to about 12–15 minutes. Machines around 1,000 W finish the same job noticeably faster.
- Small cups: The Uno CM1218 holds 1.1 l, so its 12 cups are small cups of about 90 ml. In 250 ml mugs that is barely four servings.
- Plastic build: The CM533811 keeps its price low with a plastic body and a basic switch. It feels lighter and less sturdy than steel-clad brewers.
- No grinder: None of the line, including the Sense CM6931, grinds beans. For fresh-ground flavour you need a separate grinder.
