Veho MUVI K2 Review | 96 Data compared

The Veho Muvi K-Series K2 action camera (specifically the top-of-the-line K2NPNG edition) offers excellent value for money as a feature-packed alternative to market leaders like GoPro. Priced at $300, its biggest advantage is the extensive bundle of premium accessories included in the box, such as a rugged, power-drill-style carrying case, a clip-on LCD screen, waterproof housing, and multiple mounts. Performance-wise, the camera captures decent color representation, takes photos rapidly, and features unique shooting modes like a G-sensor for motion-triggered recording and a built-in time-lapse movie creator. Furthermore, its compatibility with standard GoPro mounts makes it highly adaptable for users who already own action camera gear. However, the K2 suffers from a highly confusing and clunky control layout. It features two separate power buttons and dedicated shutter buttons for photo and video that require multiple presses to activate, often leading to accidental recordings. The settings menus are also poorly optimized, forcing the user to switch modes externally just to view specific video or photo options. In terms of image quality, the light sensor reacts slowly to changing environments, the lens is...

The Veho Muvi K-Series K2 is a robust, black-housed action camera built to challenge the industry-dominant GoPro line with a more affordable price tag. On the positive side, its major selling point is its exceptional waterproof capability, which allows it to dive up to 100 meters deep—far outperforming rivals like the GoPro Hero4. The camera captures crisp 1080p footage at 60fps and 720p at 120fps, alongside high-quality 16-megapixel still images. It also features a reliable 1500mAh battery that provides up to four hours of continuous shooting, even outlasting freezing two-hour surf sessions. Furthermore, it offers highly useful built-in Wi-Fi to sync with a free companion smartphone app for direct social media sharing and footage previewing. However, the Muvi K2 suffers from a bulky and heavy form factor that can become a literal pain in the neck during head-mounted shots, especially when using the detachable LCD back screen. The controls are notably frustrating; commencing a video recording requires a highly irritating, multi-step process where you must hit a red record button to prime the camera and then depress a separate green...

The Veho Muvi K2NPNG is a budget-friendly action camera that offers exceptional value primarily due to its generous, all-inclusive accessory bundle. Instead of a standard cardboard box, it arrives in a padded, hard carry case that securely houses the camera along with various flat, curved, and helmet mounts. A major highlight is the included detachable rear LCD screen, which allows users to frame shots and change settings easily without needing a smartphone. Performance-wise, the camera captures respectable outdoor 1080p video at up to 60fps with rich, vibrant colours, and boasts an outstanding battery life of 2 hours and 30 minutes at 1080p/30fps, easily outclassing many competitors. Additionally, its robust waterproof housing allows it to descend to impressive depths of up to 100 metres. Despite these strengths, the device has notable drawbacks in design and image quality. When fitted with both the LCD screen and the waterproof housing, the camera becomes exceptionally heavy, bulky, and cumbersome. The physical controls are notoriously fiddly and counterintuitive, featuring separate shutter buttons for photos and videos alongside an entirely separate stop button; these are even...

The Unbox PH review highlights the Veho Muvi K2 as a more affordable, feature-packed alternative to the GoPro Hero 3+, offering 1080p at 60fps, built-in Wi-Fi, and a superior 100-meter rated waterproof case. While praised for its value, the camera has drawbacks, including a bulky design and the limitation of requiring a smartphone app to change critical image settings.

The Veho Muvi K2 is highlighted as a budget-friendly action camera that directly competes with the GoPro Hero 3+ by matching its 1080p recording at 60fps and 720p at 120fps capabilities. It boasts distinct hardware advantages, including a standalone physical Wi-Fi switch that prevents battery drain when the camera is powered off. Additionally, it features dedicated, individual physical buttons for taking photos and videos, saving users from tedious menu navigation. For underwater adventurers, its protective waterproof case stands out by safely reaching depths of up to 100 metres—far outclassing GoPro's standard 40-metre limit. On top of that, it captures higher-resolution 16-megapixel still images compared to the GoPro's 12 megapixels, while offering rich video color saturation and satisfying slow-motion results. However, the camera falls short of GoPro’s superior sensor performance, lagging behind in overall image sharpness, low-light handling, and precise color balance. A major drawback is its automatic white balance, which is overly sensitive and frequently introduces a distracting, warm, or pinkish tint when exposed to bright lights or direct skylight. It is also incapable of recording resolutions higher than 1080p,...
