Portable projection: 4 pico projectors under the microscope

The LG PF50KS is a highly versatile, portable 1080p Full HD pico-projector featuring a brightness of 600 lumens and a massive 12,000 mAh battery that allows up to 2.5 hours of cordless operation with a maximum screen size of 100 inches. On the positive side, it stands out for its exceptionally complete physical connectivity, including two HDMI ports, USB-C, USB-A, a 3,5mm audio jack, and even an Ethernet port. Users can easily operate it via the physical buttons or the included remote control, and it offers great versatility with seven distinct picture modes tailored for various environments like cinema, sports, gaming, and dark rooms. However, the review highlights several notable performance drawbacks when compared to its predecessor, the PH550G. While its 2.1 gamma curve is decent, the projector suffers from a weak contrast ratio of only 404:1. Furthermore, its out-of-the-box color accuracy is poor, exhibiting an excessively high color temperature of 9684 K and a massive greyscale deviation of 14.2. The color deviation is slightly better but remains only average at 6.2.
