Verdict

Big laundry piles are where the Hoover HGD412BL10C-80 shines, with a 12 kg drum that uses 33 kWh per 100 cycles. The 72 L drum takes duvets and big family loads. Spin noise is 70 dB, which is easy to live with, and three programs under an hour cover quick refreshes. Jeans, gentle and hygiene cycles suit everyday clothes, and a time remaining display shows how long is left. The trade-off is weight. At 69 kg it is hard to shift once it is in place, and the 85 cm height means it will not slide under a worktop. Each cycle uses 45 L of water, and spin-drying is class B, so clothes can come out a little damp. It suits a busy household that does a lot of laundry and has a fixed spot for a heavy machine.
