Verdict

Sixteen wash programs come with the Hotpoint NDB 9636 DA, which is a lot for a 9 kg machine. It has a 58 L drum and a class A wash, using 49 kWh per 100 cycles. A combined wash and dry cycle uses 65 L of water, which is a real saving for a machine that also dries. The AquaStop hose guards against leaks, and unbalanced load detection watches over the spin. Drying is the weaker side, with only 2 drying programs, and the spin is fairly loud at 75 dB. There is no automatic drawer cleaning and no Power-Save mode, so it keeps to the basics. Day to day, the wash side is where it earns its keep. It suits a family that wants plenty of wash choice for different fabrics and does not need extra gadgets.
