Verdict

Built to sit under a worktop, the Hotpoint CAWD 129 suits a small kitchen where space is tight. At 81.5 cm tall and 54.5 cm deep, it takes up little room, which is handy when every centimetre counts. It has 16 wash programs, which is more than most people will ever use, and 3 dry programs. The Night/Silent option and the noise-reducing design keep it calm after dark, and washing runs at 52 dB. A 7 kg wash and 5 kg dry are on the small side, and a combined cycle uses 98 L of water. There is no display, so the controls are buttons and a dial. It suits someone living alone or as a couple who wants a quiet, low-fuss machine and does not need a large load.
