What we like about Varmilo Mac VPH108

  • Native macOS compatibility with dedicated Mac-specific media and shortcut keys
  • Premium build quality with a 'built like a tank' feel and zero flex
  • High-quality dye-sublimated PBT keycaps that are durable and resist shine
  • Smooth typing experience, particularly when equipped with Varmilo's EC (Electro-Capacitive) V2 switches
  • Stable positioning due to its heavy weight (approx. 1.2kg) and high-quality rubber feet
  • Clean aesthetic with white LED backlighting

What we don't like about Varmilo Mac VPH108

  • Lacks customizable RGB lighting, limited to a single-color white backlight
  • Solid PBT keycaps are not shine-through, making legends difficult to read in the dark despite the backlighting
  • Switches are typically soldered and not hot-swappable, limiting customization
  • Does not support QMK or VIA for advanced macro programming and remapping
  • Mini-USB connection (on some models) and lack of a wrist rest included in the box
  • Higher price point compared to other pre-built mechanical keyboards

Verdict

The Varmilo Mac VPH108 is a premium full-size mechanical keyboard featuring a 108-key layout with dedicated macOS media shortcuts and high-quality PBT dye-sublimated keycaps. It utilizes Varmilo’s proprietary EC (Electrostatic Capacitive) V2 switches for a frictionless, long-lasting typing experience, supported by a sturdy build, white LED backlighting, and a USB-C interface. Main pros include its exceptional build quality, smooth switch actuation, and native Apple compatibility; however, it lacks hot-swappable switch functionality and modern wireless connectivity options.
