What we like about Philips Series 4300 EP4321/50

  • Intuitive and easy-to-use TFT colour display with touch controls
  • Allows personalized drink customization for strength, volume, and temperature
  • Features two separate user profiles plus a guest mode to save custom drink settings
  • Highly durable ceramic burr grinder with 12 adjustable grind size settings
  • Equipped with a classic 2-position steam wand that makes it easy to froth milk manually
  • Low maintenance thanks to the AquaClean water filter which prevents frequent descaling
  • Fully removable brewing unit simplifies deep cleaning under the tap
  • Fast heat-up time and quick brewing process for everyday convenience

What we don't like about Philips Series 4300 EP4321/50

  • Requires a break-in period of grinding several dozen coffees before extraction quality improves
  • The 1.8-litre water tank can feel small and require frequent refills due to auto-rinsing cycles
  • Grinder noise is noticeable and can be loud during early morning operations
  • The machine exterior is constructed mostly from plastic, missing a premium metallic feel
  • Coffee beans occasionally fail to feed smoothly into the grinder and require manual pushing
  • Initial default settings tend to produce somewhat weak or thin espresso with lacking depth
  • Drip tray fills up quickly from automatic startup and shutdown rinsing water

Verdict

The Philips Series 4300 EP4321/50 is a 1500W fully automatic bean-to-cup espresso machine featuring a 15-bar pump pressure system, an intuitive colour TFT touchscreen display, a 1.8-litre front-loading water tank, and a 275g bean hopper with an aroma seal. It prepares 5 coffee varieties (espresso, coffee, americano, caffè crema, and ristretto) from fresh beans or pre-ground coffee using a durable 100% ceramic burr grinder with 12 adjustable settings, and it includes a classic manual steam wand for milk frothing. Key advantages include 2 custom user profiles to save strength (5 levels) and temperature (3 levels), the AquaClean filter which allows up to 5,000 cups without descaling, and a fully removable brew group for easy cleaning. However, notable drawbacks are that it lacks the automatic LatteGo milk system found on other 4300 models, requires manual milk frothing, has a primarily plastic exterior build, and the grinder produces noticeable operation noise.
