What we like about HiBREW H4

  • High portability and compact, thermos-like design for travel, camping, or office use
  • Versatile 3-in-1 compatibility with Nespresso, Dolce Gusto, and ground coffee
  • Produces good quality espresso with decent crema and a 20-bar pressure pump
  • Capable of heating water directly within the machine
  • Includes a practical hard protective carrying case

What we don't like about HiBREW H4

  • Small water capacity (approx. 100ml) means small shot sizes
  • The process of making multiple coffees can be laborious and slow
  • Requires power source (USB or DC) to heat water; battery lasts only 3-5 cups when heating
  • Some users find the filter basket for ground coffee hard to clean
  • Accessories such as a battery pack may need to be purchased separately in some editions

Verdict

The HiBREW H4 is a highly versatile, 80W 3-in-1 portable electric espresso machine weighing just 600g and measuring 7x7x24cm, making it an excellent companion for travel and camping. It features a 60ml water tank and a powerful 15-bar pressure pump that extracts rich espresso with prominent crema in approximately 60 seconds when using hot water. Its primary advantage is its wide compatibility, operating effortlessly with Nespresso Original pods, Dolce Gusto capsules, and loose ground coffee, while supporting multiple power inputs via an AC adapter, a 12V car cigarette charger, or a USB cable. However, a major limitation is that it cannot heat cold water when powered solely through a USB connection, requiring pre-heated water instead, and its cold-water heating time stretches to 5–8 minutes when using the AC or car chargers.
