Reviews last updated: July 2026 · How we calculate this

What we like about Viltrox 75mm F 1 2 AF

  • Exceptional sharpness and detail, even when shooting wide open at f/1.2
  • High-quality, all-metal 'Pro' build with thorough weather sealing
  • Fast, accurate, and quiet autofocus performance using an STM motor
  • Beautiful, creamy bokeh and excellent subject isolation for portraits
  • Outstanding value-for-money compared to native first-party alternatives
  • Physical controls including an AF/MF switch and a clickable/de-clickable aperture ring
  • Low chromatic aberration and effectively non-existent distortion

What we don't like about Viltrox 75mm F 1 2 AF

  • Relatively large and heavy (670g) for an APS-C lens, which may feel unbalanced on smaller camera bodies
  • Noticeable vignetting at the maximum f/1.2 aperture
  • Noticeable focus breathing, which may affect certain videography applications
  • Autofocus can struggle to maintain a lock on subjects moving rapidly toward the camera
  • Out-of-focus highlights are prone to 'cat eyes' effect toward the edges of the frame

Verdict

The Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 AF Pro is a high-end APS-C prime lens (112.5mm full-frame equivalent) featuring a bright f/1.2 maximum aperture, 16 elements in 11 groups (including 3 ED and 4 high-refractive elements), and an 11-blade diaphragm for smooth bokeh. Its robust, all-metal weather-sealed body includes an STM stepping motor for fast, quiet autofocus, a 77mm filter thread, and a USB-C port for firmware updates. Main pros include exceptional sharpness even wide open, professional-grade build quality, and effectively suppressed chromatic aberration. The main cons are its significant weight of approximately 670g, lack of built-in image stabilization, and susceptibility to flaring when shooting directly into light.
