The Melitta EPOUR is easy to use and well built, and suits home workers who want warm coffee, but it needs good beans and takes only paper filters.

Verdict

At 16.7 cm wide, the Melitta EPOUR is a slim machine for a crowded counter. It brews up to 8 cups from a 1 L tank in about 6 min, thanks to a 1450 W heater. Pre-infusion wets the grounds before the main brew, and the warming plate keeps coffee hot through a morning. The water tank comes out for filling, and the parts are dishwasher-safe. The trade-off is the filter. It takes paper filters only, with no reusable option, and it needs ground coffee, so beans need a separate grinder. Real output also falls short of the 8 cups it is rated for. At 2.7 kg it is light, but at 35.9 cm deep it still needs room. It suits a buyer who already buys ground coffee and wants a quick morning pot.
