The Krups Smart'n Light KM6008 is a compact, quiet filter machine that makes a good-tasting cup, but its built-in water tank is hard to clean.

Third-party reviews

What we like about Krups Smart'n Light KM6008

  • Intuitive, extra-large, and easy-to-read digital display screen
  • Convenient 24-hour programmable auto-start timer functionality
  • Large and efficient water brewing head provides uniform water distribution and fast results
  • Helpful acoustic and visual alerts signal when the brewing cycle starts and finishes
  • Effective anti-drip system allows clean pouring mid-cycle without making a mess
  • Sleek, modern, and compact footprint that easily fits into small kitchen spaces

What we don't like about Krups Smart'n Light KM6008

  • The lid of the glass carafe is permanently attached and cannot be removed for easier sink cleaning
  • Initial uses can emit a noticeable, unpleasant plastic smell and taste that requires multiple rinse cycles to clear
  • The glass carafe can be difficult and rigid to pull out sideways, requiring it to be pulled straight forward
  • The integrated warm-keeping hotplate automatically shuts off after only 30 minutes

Verdict

The Krups Smart'n Light KM6008 is a 1,000 W filter coffee maker with a 1.25-litre capacity for approximately 10 to 15 cups. Its large digital display, 24-hour programmable timer, 30-minute keep-warm period, anti-drip system and AROMA pre-infusion help make brewing convenient. The fixed, non-removable water tank, lack of an integrated water filter and non-removable glass-carafe lid are notable limitations.
