Veho MUVI Micro Camcorder Review | 96 Data compared

The Veho VCC 003 Muvi Micro DV Camcorder, reviewed by The Times, is a highly affordable, ultra-compact action camera roughly the size of a pack of chewing gum. Priced around £60, this device features a two-megapixel lens and simple, plug-and-play functionality for quick computer downloads. The Times Pros include impressive footage that adjusts to light, solid sound, and a durable, stylish design, while cons require users to purchase a Class 6 memory card to prevent jerky video and invest in optional mounts.

The Veho Muvi Micro DV is a diminutive, spy-movie-style camcorder roughly the size of a large Bluetooth headset, designed to shoot video in tight or unconventional spaces. Lacking a digital screen, it relies entirely on a three-color indicator light system where blue means powered on, green signifies recording, and red warns of a low battery. The camera records 640 x 480 resolution videos in clips up to 30 minutes long, saving files onto a microSD card. For physical control, it features a power switch and Record button on the right and top, alongside a dedicated voice recording switch on the left side of the chassis. The primary pros of the device are its highly portable, compact form factor, an affordable price tag, and its unique ability to go and shoot where standard camcorders cannot fit. However, the cons include poor overall video quality that suffers from heavy rolling shutter artifacts, causing subjects to slant or wobble whenever the camera moves. Additionally, the sound capture performance is muted, failing to clearly record audio beyond the immediate vicinity of the person wearing...

The Veho Muvi is a budget-friendly, micro-sized helmet camera that offers an incredibly simple user experience, making it an appealing entry-level choice for cyclists who want to record their rides for insurance or fun. The reviewer notes that despite the camera's low price, the video quality is perfectly adequate and clear enough to read vehicle license plates easily. It also features a responsive light sensor that adjusts quickly when transitioning focus between the sky and the road. Operating the device is straightforward, requiring a simple tap on the record button to start and another to stop and save the footage. Furthermore, multiple users in the comments highlight that the video clarity is impressive for the cost and that an 8GB memory card can hold about four hours of standard-definition footage. However, the camera comes with several notable drawbacks, particularly regarding physical mounting and battery life. Out of the box, installing the camera is a fiddly process with vague, unclear instructions, forcing users to improvise with straps or purchase the separate Extreme Sports Pack to secure it properly to a helmet...

It provides a respectable 2-hour battery life per 1-hour charge, captures functional audio, and comes packaged with a 2GB micro SD card (expandable to 8GB), a lanyard, and various mounting brackets. Furthermore, data transfer is straightforward and fast when bypassing the provided software to read the standard.AVI files directly via a Windows file manager or card reader.

Review Overview The Veho Muvi Micro DV camcorder is an exceptionally small point-of-view (POV) action camera measuring 54x25x20mm and weighing just 39g. Built with a sturdy metal body, it captures standard definition video at a frame size of 640×480 pixels using a 1mm wide lens that provides a wide field of view. The device records in AVI format onto an included 2Gb Micro-SD card, which yields roughly two hours of footage. It features an impressive battery life when charged via USB, clear audio quality for static shots, and a unique "vox" sound-activated mode that allows it to double as a basic security camera. Overall, the reviewer awarded the device an 8 out of 10 score, deeming it a fun and affordable entry-level gadget for commuters and recreational riders. Pros and Cons

The Veho VCC-003 Muvi micro camcorder is an exceptionally compact, lightweight, and budget-friendly action camera ideal for tracking riding improvements without a massive financial investment. Its robust metal construction provides a durable design that handles track day wear well, while its internal battery provides up to three hours of continuous recording. Operating the device is simple, featuring a single record button and a voice-activated (VOX) setting. This feature automatically triggers a new video segment once the camera reaches its 30-minute individual clip limit. For its price point under £40, it delivers astonishingly good standard-definition video quality at a 640×480 resolution through a 72-degree wide-angle lens. However, the camera has several clear performance limitations that require additional investments to fully resolve. The included 2GB memory card causes jerky footage, meaning users must buy a higher-speed SDHC card (up to 8GB) for smooth playback. Out of the box, the unit lacks weatherproofing, and its integrated microphone is rendered useless by wind noise at speeds above 20–25 mph. This requires strategic placement behind the motorcycle's windscreen, which is difficult to achieve without purchasing...

The London Cyclist review of the Veho Muvi VCC-003 helmet camera rates it 4 out of 5 stars, describing it as an affordable (£32.90) and highly functional entry-level safety camera for commutes. Key advantages (pros) highlighted include its extremely compact 55mm size and uncomplicated dual-button operation, making it far less noticeable than a GoPro when mounted on a helmet. Additionally, when bundled with the extreme sports pack, it offers impressive mounting versatility, allowing users to secure it onto a bicycle helmet, an armband, a lanyard, or even a magnetic fridge surface using the included magnetic mount. Conversely, the review details several performance limitations (cons), starting with its low-tier video specifications; it uses a 2-megapixel lens that records in basic 640x480 standard resolution rather than HD, meaning it is unsuitable for high-action trail footage though adequate for capturing vehicle number plates. The physical constraints of its miniature build restrict the internal battery life to roughly 2 to 2.5 hours of continuous recording, while the included 2 GB Micro SD card limits storage to about 90 minutes (upgradeable to a maximum of...
