Deep and heavy, the AEG TR718AE4B is a premium heat pump dryer for a family with a regular 8 kg wash and floor space to spare. At 66.3 cm deep it sits further out into a room than many dryers, so measure the gap before you buy. The 118 L drum gives bulky items room to tumble, and the machine uses 221 kWh a year, a sensible figure for its size. It runs at 64 dB, which is noticeable in a quiet room, so it is best run while you are out. At 85 cm tall it is too high to slide under a worktop, and at 48.1 kg it is hard to move once installed. It suits a buyer with spare utility space who wants a heat pump dryer and does not mind the weight.
