What we like about BLU 09

  • Highly effective at quickly cooling bedrooms and smaller spaces during heatwaves
  • Compact and relatively space-saving design
  • Easy to set up with clear instructions
  • Powerful fan that produces lots of cold air
  • Self-evaporating design means you often don't have to empty water from it

What we don't like about BLU 09

  • Unit can be quite noisy, making it difficult for some users to sleep with it on
  • The heavy plastic exhaust hose can sometimes be tricky to secure and may fall out of windows if not properly adjusted
  • Less effective in larger living rooms compared to smaller bedrooms
  • Can be slightly difficult to move around due to only having an indented top handle rather than side handles

Verdict

The BLU 09 is a 3-in-1 portable air conditioner with 9,000 BTU of cooling power, designed for rooms of roughly 20–23 m². It also works as a three-speed fan and dehumidifier, uses efficient R290 refrigerant, and includes auto-swing, an LED display, remote control, timer and castors. The self-evaporating condensate system reduces manual draining and the window kit simplifies setup. It is limited to cooling rather than heating, weighs around 26.5 kg, and its 49–53 dBA operating noise may be noticeable, especially at night.
