It boasts a thinner, lighter design with a 6.8-inch screen, improved adaptive lighting to reduce eye strain, and extensive customization options, including support for various file formats. Furthermore, the device offers excellent battery life lasting several weeks and high-quality screen resolution. Key disadvantages noted include the removal of the microSD card slot, limiting users to 8GB of internal storage. The device's width and sharp corners may feel bulky to some users compared to competitors. Additionally, with a price point around $180, it is considered relatively expensive. The stated protection allows immersion at one metre for 30 minutes, which makes accidental splashes a less worrying prospect. The Kobo Aura H2O serves as a waterproofed, 6.8-inch update to the Aura HD, boasting an IP67 rating that allows for submersion in up to one meter of water for 30 minutes. The device, which features a high-resolution Carta E Ink screen and a textured, thinner design for better handling, is well-suited for bath or beach use. Key strengths include excellent frontlight uniformity and extensive software customization options like font sideloading and text boldness adjustments, complemented by a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. However, the review notes significant cons, including the absence of pinch-to-zoom multi-touch support and limited export options for notes and highlights. Software shortcomings, such as inconsistent formatting adjustments on sideloaded ePubs and restricted "Beyond the Book" features, also limit the experience. Additionally, the screen's slight yellow hue, when the frontlight is active, may be less appealing to users who prefer a cooler, whiter tone.
