What we like about Varmilo Panda VPM87

  • Exceptional build quality with a sturdy plastic case and metal mounting plate
  • Highly regarded factory-lubricated stabilizers that eliminate rattle
  • Premium Dye-Sublimated PBT keycaps that are durable and shine-resistant
  • Satisfying and consistent typing experience, often described as a benchmark for pre-built keyboards
  • Aesthetic design featuring a unique Panda theme and high-quality printed legends
  • Includes helpful features like N-Key Rollover (NKRO) and a detachable cable

What we don't like about Varmilo Panda VPM87

  • Lacks modern customization options like hot-swappable switches or RGB lighting
  • No companion software for macro programming or key remapping
  • Higher-than-average latency for a wired keyboard, which may affect competitive gaming
  • Does not include a wrist rest, resulting in mediocre ergonomics for long sessions
  • Limited connectivity (wired-only) with no USB passthrough or wireless support
  • Some users reported minor spring ping on certain keys in quiet environments

Verdict

The Varmilo Panda VPM87 is a tenkeyless (80%) mechanical keyboard featuring a durable plastic case, a sturdy aluminum plate, and high-quality dye-sublimated PBT keycaps in a signature panda-themed aesthetic. Key technical specifications include a USB-C wired connection with a 1000Hz polling rate, full N-key rollover (NKRO) support, and double silicone sound-dampening pads for improved acoustics. Its main pros are the premium build quality, factory-lubricated stabilizers that eliminate rattle, and its unique artistic design which often includes a commemorative panda plush and desk mat. Main cons include a lack of RGB lighting (it features white-only LEDs), the absence of a hotswap PCB, and no official software for advanced macro or key remapping customization.
